PELITA NAPURRULA

This painting depicts designs associated with a rockhole site to the east of Wingelina, a community in South Australia. The roundels in the painting represent the rockhole at the site whilst the design that forms a border around the painting represents the tali (Sandhills) surrounding the site. In ancestral times a group of women represented here by the 'U' like shapes came to this site perform the songs and dances associated with the area before continuing their travels to the west
