Bernard is the former husband of Jorna Newberry, he lives at Irunytju (Wingellina) which is located close to the WA / SA border in the Wingellina Hills. He was born in 1948 and is a senior lawman and powerful member of the governing council of Nganyatjarra lands. Newberry’s vibrant and dramatic paintings reveal an aerial view of his country. It's important to point out that Bernard does not paint often and most works are quite small, over recent years his dot structure has got a lot looser, whilst still attractive they are not in the same artistic quality of this work created much earlier, in 2008.
