She paints significant Tjukurpa (traditional and spiritual knowledge) from her paternal ancestors in her Walka Wiru Ngura Wiru paintings. Walka Wiru Ngura Wiru (sometimes shortened to Wiru Wiru) which means lovely country, lovely painting. Her paintings represent the sandy desert country and sandstone hills around the Tompkinson Ranges of Pipalyatjara, Kalka and Irrunytju communites of her ancestral lands. Michelle incorporates the Tjurkurpa of her homelands into her paintings with a distinctive precise and intricate dotting technique combined with her uniquely vibrant colour palette. Her artworks are a reverent expression of her ancestral traditions.
