HARRY (EARL) HAYES

Harry Hayes is an Eastern Arrernte man in his early thirties, partnered with Dorrie Campbell. They have a son, Warren. Harry is one of the large Hayes family (the surname adopted from the Whitefella) Hayes who created Undoolya Station, immediately east of Alice Springs, soon after the telegraph line was completed). His great grandfather was contingent to the success of Undoolya's cattle industry as were his grandfather and uncles). Harry, who has contributed to animation projects, has recently deployed the craft skills of his Uncles who'd made similar bucking broncos two decades ago at Santa Teresa Mission, and where cattle business continues to thrive. It's that proximity to working with livestock that gives Harry's pieces both their authenticity and incredible vitality. Harry(now known as Earl) started constructing small copper wire and paper rodeo riders during 2018 & has continued expanding his repertoire with nativity scenarios and his family band. Most recently he’s produced some superb local birds and given his increased confidence with paint they possess an uncanny animation. Harry started making these brilliantly animated rodeo riders early 2018. He fashioned a studio space at the Undoolya Outstation.
