Gadigal Weave #4
1/3

KONSTANTINA (KATE) CONSTANTINE

I came all the way to Wales to work out what I am truly passionate about; telling the stories of our women. Sometimes it takes being a fish out of water to see things clearly. Perspective is so hard when you're busy and in your day to day mindset. I spent time in Sir Sidney Nolan's reading room, flicking through pages marked and annotated. Reading, looking, feeling and then I felt like I had this ‘Eureka’ moment. Focusing in on our Dyin (women), telling the stories of our matriarchy, the strength, the knowledge, the wisdom and their love. This pattern is our traditional Gadigal weave as researched with the assistance of the Koori Librarians, at the state library of New South Wales.
